Station 5 conducted a Confined Space Drill on Thursday - February 26, 2009 at the Pennsville Township Sewer Treatment plant. Station 5 is the designated department to provide these emergency services for Pennsville Township. Two evolutions were conducted during the afternoon involving the rescue of”Leo”. Proper set-up of equipment, utilization of the multi-gas meter, deployment of rescue personnel and safe removal of “Leo” were all evaluated during this drill. Additionally, personnel discussed notification procedures, support personnel and planning. A future drill is being planned in conjuction with the Pennsville Township sewer department to further evaluate the response and actions by both departments.
